the heart is not a peace treaty.

and, making your way from love,
you are always a casualty.
only given leave enough to heal.

front line shifting
you can go on gaining
medal and scar
half your life,

never seeming to note
that all you fight to gain
is that few extra feet of soil.

no, victory
is always coloured with the blue of distance.

or else it lies,
where a stray bullet found purchase.

Author's Comments

this one was written this morning in 10mins

so please be kind - i'll come back to it this afternoon and might change it beyond recognition

comments are always welcomed

i do feel at last as though i'm digging in, for a new shot at love

the 'blue of distance' - is a reference to the idea in fine art where the distant landscape is painted with a blueish tint - to represent the far away - as light gets loss traveling towards the observer and as we all know from sea and sky - that makes things look blue

I liked it, very different though.
But going about changing things is great too.

It's not like art is ever finished eh?

The difference between life and fiction is that fiction has to make sense.

Art will never be finished with us! ;)

I really like this one, especially the first line.

I haven't lost my mind; I know exactly where I left it.

"13 pi over 6 does not equal pi over 6. It's just kind of one of those 'duh' things."

thank you so much.

in fact i came up with that line several weeks ago and have only just found the right place for it

The second stanza is what hits me most, it's so powerful. I love the bitterness behind the concepts here, and the beauty in the words you've conveyed it with.
There's something about the way you structure your poems, the way they flow, that makes me feel kind of surreal... and truely in awe.

a great comment!

i try to take people inside themselves with my poetry - if not, i'm trying to force them to possess me and understand my emotions by living the experience

:)
